Sizing for Bracelets and Watches

An easy way to measure your bracelet size is to wrap a flexible tape measure around the wrist just below the wrist bone - where you would place your wrist watch. Now take that measurement and add one inch to allow room for comfort. This should give you an approximate size for the one of a kind bracelet or watch* you will need.

If no flexible tape measure can be found, wrap a string around the wrist, and then measure the string against a ruler.

*When measuring for a watch, think comfort. If you prefer to wear your watch loose, like a bracelet, then add one inch. If you prefer to wear it a bit tighter, then add 1/4" to 1/2".

If this bracelet is a gift for an adult or young lady and you don't know their wrist size, please view the chart below for additional help.

Petite - 7 ins.
Small - 7 1/4 ins.
Medium - 7 1/2 ins.
Large - 7 3/4 ins.
XLarge - 8 ins.

*Average size is generally 7 1/4 to 7 1/2 inches.
*Bracelets with an adjustable closure allows room for play.

Necklace Lengths

The following is a guide for an average size person:

Shorter than 14", at Dee-Zigns, these necklaces are typically sized for children and tweens.

12-15" Necklace, also called the Choker: Rest around the collar bone.
16" Necklace, this is the most popular necklace length and an industry standard. Accentuates the neckline.
18" Necklace, also called Princess Length: Goes about 2" below your neck, hangs around your collar bone.
20-24" Necklace, is called the Matinee length necklace, and hangs down to the breast area.

28" Necklace is called the Opera Necklace, and hangs about 2" below the 24" Matinee Necklace.
36"- 45"+ Necklaces are called Ropes. They can be wrapped around 2 or 3 times depending on the looks the person wants to achieve.

Jewelry Care

Care: Apply lotions, oils, perfumes, hairspray, and other products before putting on your one of a kind handcrafted jewelry. Take off jewelry before swimming in a pool or the ocean. The chlorine and salt can cause damage to various gemstones and gold. If you have an active lifestyle, take extra precaution in wearing your jewelry, as some gemstones can easily chip and become damaged.

Storage: I highly recommend storing your sterling silver jewelry in ziploc bags to slow down the tarnishing process (do not store pearls in a zip log bag). Store jewelry pieces separately to avoid scratches and away from sunlight as the light from the sun may fade the gemstones.

Cleaning: The safest method of cleaning most jewelry is to use mild, warm soapy water, rinse with cool water, and pat dry with a soft cloth. Soaking jewelry that contains soft opaque stones such as opal, coral, fluorite, lapis lazuli, pearls, turquoise, malachite and onyx, is not recommended. Extended soaking may harm the polish on these stones, or may even cause discoloration. Instead, clean the stones with a little soapy water or use a polishing cloth.
